There are six classes of Heroes, depending on the type of Town. A given class starts with different skills and is predisposed to learn skills that are more related to its class (e.g., combat skills for Barbarians and magic skills for Warlocks):
| CLASS | VIEW | CASTLE | STARTING SKILLS |
| Knight | ![]() | Citadel ![]() | Offense, Armorer, Archery, Ballistics, Leadership, Estates |
| Barbarian | ![]() | Stronghold ![]() | Offense, Armorer, Pathfinding, Scouting, Ballistics, Resistance, Logistics |
| Sorceress | ![]() | Fortress ![]() | Magic, Wisdom, Diplomacy, Luck, Learning, Intelligence, Logistics |
| Wizard | ![]() | Tower ![]() | Wisdom, Magic, Intelligence, Sorcery, Mysticism, Learning |
| Warlock | ![]() | Dungeon ![]() | Wisdom, Magic, Sorcery, Scouting, Learning |
| Necro | ![]() | Necropolis ![]() | Necromancy, Magic, Pathfinding, Logistics |
There are only 6 Heroes available for each class and during the game you can have a maximum of 4 heroes at a time. For example, if you control a Barbarian Castle and have 3 Barbarian heroes and your enemy also controls a Barbarian castle with 3 heroes, neither of you will be able to hire the forth Barbarian Hero, as all 6 Barbarians are already in play.
